SouthMUN is a conference that represents the joint effort of students from different schools across South Calgary. Our mission is to foster cooperation and discussion between delegates regarding world issues, inspiring Calgary's youth to remain engaged with what is happening in the world around them.

 

Our goal at SouthMUN is to encourage delegates to participate in civil discussion with each other, develop skills in public speaking and conflict resolution, and provide an academic environment where all delegates feel they have the opportunity to learn. We aim to provide delegates with the necessary tools to thrive before and during committee with our delegate resources, chair feedback, and background guides.

While spirited debate is encouraged throughout the weekend at SouthMUN, our conference also prioritizes fairness and inclusion. Delegates, chairs, and staff members are all expected to abide by these values to ensure that all parties at SouthMUN feel assured that their rights and needs are respected.

 

At SouthMUN, we believe that anyone can partake in Model UN, no matter their prior experience or background. We are hosting a wide variety of committees, including general assemblies and crisis committees, which cover a range of different topics, giving delegates the opportunity to choose committees that best match their interests. Delegates with any level of experience are able to participate in SouthMUN, as our committees are labeled either beginner, intermediate, or advanced, allowing all students the opportunity to join committees based on what level they're comfortable most with.
